What is QATT?
A QATT designation (Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology) is how DHS officially recognizes and protects technologies under the SAFETY Act program (Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act). This act was created by the Department of Homeland Security post 9/11 to encourage companies to develop and use technologies that help prevent or respond to acts of terrorism.
Under the SAFETY Act, products or services that qualify can receive a special status called a QATT designation. This designation means DHS has reviewed and approved the technology as effective for anti-terrorism purposes. The provider and user are granted certain liability protections if their technology is used during a terrorist event.
